What is SOAR?

Seniors Organizing Around Retirement or SOAR is a brand new virtual training from Social Security Works to give Americans, especially seniors, all the tools they need to effectively advocate for themselves in 2021. 

SOAR training is an interactive learning experience that will increase your knowledge about our Social Security system, enhance your digital advocacy skills, and most importantly give you the tools to tell your story and influence positive changes to federal policy.

Who can register for SOAR?
Everyone! While we are targeting SOAR training toward seniors, anyone can take advantage of this training. We hope that advocates of all ages will engage in the work to protect, strengthen and expand our Social Security system.
What if I have no experience in federal advocacy?
Good news, you don’t need any previous experience to participate in SOAR training! We hope that participants at all levels of their advocacy journey will learn something new during their enrollment in SOAR.

How much does SOAR training cost?
SOAR Training is completely FREE! Thanks to generous funding from the Retirement Research Foundation and Social Security Works supporters, we are able to offer this training at no cost to you.

Who are the instructors for SOAR?
Social Security Works is thankful to have a wealth of in-house Social Security and digital advocacy experts. During SOAR training you will learn from our most knowledgeable staff, along with a few guest appearances from our friends in the movement to expand Social Security.     
How long will I have access to SOAR training resources?
SOAR Training will run through December 2021. We hope you will enjoy our library of resources and take advantage of our live office hour sessions throughout the entire year. 
Is SOAR training live or pre-recorded?

BOTH! All of the SOAR training lessons are pre-recorded so you can move at your own pace. Each month we will host live office hours which will include answers to questions we receive during the month along with the latest Social Security news.
