Donald Trump’s Latest Attack on Social Security Puts Lives at Risk

(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, on the Trump Administration’s proposal to strip many people with disabilities of their Social Security benefits:

“This is the Trump Administration’s most brazen attack on Social Security yet. When Ronald Reagan implemented a similar benefit cut, it ripped away the benefits of 450,000 people. Ultimately, Reagan was forced to reverse his attack on Social Security after massive public outcry – but not before people suffered and died.

Donald Trump and his advisers know that this will kill people, and they do not care. Every current and future Social Security beneficiary must band together to defeat this horrific proposal, or else all of our earned benefits will be next.”
