Senate Republicans Will Pay the Price for Their Tax Scam Next November
(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, in reaction to the Republican tax bill that just passed the Senate:
“Senate Republicans just jammed through a historically unpopular tax bill that enriches their wealthy donors at the American people’s expense. The tax giveaway to the wealthy would trigger $400 billion in automatic cuts to Medicare in the next decade. Republicans have already announced their intentions to continue their attack on Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security next year.
But this fight has just begun. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) championed the tax scam even though Donald Trump lost his state last year. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TV) defended it in a CNN debate, even though Trump only won his state by single digits. They will both pay the price when voters express their anger at the polls.“
