Mobile Billboard Slams Rep. Scott Peters For Blocking Plans to Lower Drug Prices

(Washington, DC) — This week, Social Security Works launched a billboard campaign calling out Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA) for siding with pharmaceutical corporations instead of his constituents.

Peters, who received over $229,973 in campaign contributions from the pharmaceutical industry, co-led a letter aimed at blocking Democratic efforts to lower drug prices. Last week, Peters vowed to vote against the entire Democratic reconciliation package if it includes provisions to lower drug prices — even though he backed those provisions in 2019 and 2020.

A truck displaying the billboard is traveling California’s 52nd congressional district all week long.“Democratic, Republican, and independent voters all overwhelmingly want Congress to lower drug prices, but Scott Peters doesn’t care. He is working for his big pharma donors, not for voters. We’re making sure that his constituents know it.” Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works
