Endorsement: Kamala Harris for President

(Washington, DC) —The following is a statement from Jon “Bowzer” Bauman, President of Social Security Works PAC:

The Biden-Harris administration was the best presidency for seniors in a very, very long time.

Now that Joe Biden has decided to pass the torch and not seek re-election, the choice is extremely clear: Social Security Works PAC endorses Kamala Harris for President.

We’ve got work to do. Social Security Works has a network of seniors councils around the country that are ready to activate for Kamala. With just a little more than 100 days until Election Day, help us kick it into overdrive!

Joe Biden has been the best president for seniors in over half a century. He provided a steady hand during a tumultuous time in our nation’s history and has the grace to pass the torch to ensure that his legacy will remain secure. We thank him for his service and his self-assurance.

Together, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris:

• Stood up to Republican attempts to create a closed-door commission to cut Social Security and Medicare.
• Endorsed expanding Social Security and Medicare in their budgets, by asking billionaires and the uber-wealthy to pay their fair share.
• Replaced Donald Trump’s no-show Commissioner of the Social Security Administration with Social Security champion Martin O’Malley.
• Forced shady financial advisers to stop ripping off working people trying to plan for retirement.
• Took on Big Pharma, and won, giving Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices, capping out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35/month, making hearing aids cheaper, and lowering prices for inhalers.
• Restored Social Security and Medicare’s dedicated funding after Donald Trump unilaterally ended it.
• Fought to increase transparency in privatized Medicare programs.
• Proposed minimum staffing standards for nursing homes, worked to boost compensation and job quality for care workers, and fought to expand and improve care options.
• Promised to fight to add dental, vision, and hearing coverage to Medicare in a second term.

Additionally, as Senator Kamala Harris was one of the earliest co-sponsors of legislation that would expand Social Security by $2,400 a month. President Biden protected our Social Security system. President Harris will expand it.

All of our progress is in peril if Donald Trump wins in November―not to mention all of Trump’s other flaws, from embracing political violence to undermining our democracy to attacking our freedoms.
