Musician and Activist Jon “Bowzer” Bauman to Hold “Hands Off Medicare” Event in Lewiston
Bauman will be joined by Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works
Washington, DC- Next Tuesday, January 17 at 2:00pm ET Musician and activist Jon “Bowzer” Bauman will join Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, to send a clear message to Congress: Hands off the American people’s Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits.
No one voted for cuts to these vital benefits. President-elect Donald Trump ran on a promise to protect them. But in a classic case of bait and switch, Congress is now making plans to voucherize Medicare, block grant Medicaid, and massively cut Social Security.
Only three Republican Senators are needed to block these brutal cuts. Speakers at the event will be calling on Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) to provide one of those votes. Bowzer will lead constituents in calling her DC and district offices from the rally. This is the first event in a nationwide “Hands off Medicare” tour that Bauman will be holding over the next few months.
Who:
- Jon “Bowzer” Bauman, formerly of Sha Na Na and co-founder of Senior Votes Count
- Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works
- Cynthia Phinney, President of Maine AFL-CIO
