Musician and Activist Jon “Bowzer” Bauman to Hold “Hands Off Medicare” Event in Phoenix
Bauman will be joined by Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works
This Tuesday, February 21st at 11:00am MST Musician and activist Jon “Bowzer” Bauman will join Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works and retiree activists with the Arizona Education Association to send a clear message to Congress: Hands off the American people’s Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits.
No one voted for cuts to these vital benefits. President-elect Donald Trump ran on a promise to protect them. But in a classic case of bait and switch, Congress is now making plans to voucherize Medicare, block grant Medicaid, and massively cut Social Security.
Only three Republican Senators are needed to block these brutal cuts. Speakers at the event will be calling on Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake to provide two of those votes. This event is part of a nationwide “Hands off Medicare” tour that Bauman will be holding over the next few months.
Who:
- Jon “Bowzer” Bauman, formerly of Sha Na Na and co-founder of Senior Votes Count
- Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works
What: Jon ‘Bowzer’ Bauman will be leading retiree activists in calling Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake to pledge to vote NO on any reconciliation bill that includes cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. The purpose of the Hands Off Medicare Tour is to find three Republican Senators to publicly pledge to vote against benefit cuts.
When: Tuesday, February 21 from 11 AM – 12PM MST
Where: 345 East Palm Lane, Phoenix 85008
Free Event – Open to the Public. There is also an event the following day in Tucson.
