Any House Member Who Votes for Trumpcare Will Face the Consequences
(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Social Security Works senior adviser Jon “Bowzer” Bauman on the vote on the so-called American Health Care Act (AKA Trumpcare) that will be taking place in the House today:
“This disastrous bill is an all out assault on older Americans. It would raid billions from Medicare, setting the stage for Paul Ryan’s plans to destroy Medicare by voucherizing it. It would put seniors at grave risk of losing essential coverage, including long term care, by cutting nearly a trillion dollars from Medicaid. Health care costs for older Americans in their 50s and early 60s, who are not yet eligible for Medicare, would skyrocket. Many of them are likely to lose their coverage entirely since the bill removes protections for pre-existing conditions.
We are closely watching today’s vote, and are prepared to ensure that every single House member who votes for this monstrosity of a bill will face the consequences in 2018.”
