It’s Long Past Time for Congress to Update SSI
(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Nancy Altman, President of Social Security Works, on the introduction of the bipartisan Savings Penalty Elimination Act, which would update the asset limits for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients:
“We enthusiastically commend Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman for introducing this long-overdue legislation. It is outrageous that SSI’s asset limits haven’t been updated in over 30 years. Congress should pass the Savings Penalty Elimination Act into law immediately.”
