Sha Na Na’s “Bowzer” Coming to Las Vegas to Tell Sen. Heller to Keep His Hands Off Medicare & Medicaid
Bauman will be available for TV, radio, and print interviews the day of the event
This Tuesday, March 21st at Noon PST Musician and activist Jon “Bowzer” Bauman will join Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works and retiree activists to send a clear message to Congress: Hands off the American people’s Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits.
No one voted for cuts to these vital benefits. President-elect Donald Trump ran on a clear promise to protect them. But in a classic case of bait and switch, the “American Health Care Act” (AKA Trumpcare) recently introduced in Congress would raid Medicare and destroy Medicaid.
Only three Republican Senators are needed to block these brutal cuts. Speakers at the event will be calling on Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) to provide one of those votes. This event is part of a nationwide “Hands off Medicare & Medicaid” tour that Bauman is in the midst of, with previous stops in Maine and Arizona.
Who:
- Jon “Bowzer” Bauman, formerly of Sha Na Na and co-founder of Senior Votes Count
- Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works
- Las Vegas seniors and educators with personal stories about the importance of Medicare and Medicaid
What: Jon ‘Bowzer’ Bauman will be leading retiree activists in calling on Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) to pledge to vote NO on any reconciliation bill, including Trumpcare, that includes cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. The purpose of the Hands Off Medicare & Medicaid Tour is to find three Republican Senators to publicly pledge to vote against benefit cuts.
