Republicans Own Every Closed Hospital and Nursing Home
(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, on the House voting to pass the Republican reconciliation bill:
“Republicans just voted for a trillion dollars in cuts to Medicaid, which will rip health care away from at least seventeen million people. All to give enormous tax handouts to billionaires.
Even for those who don’t lose their health care, the consequences of this bill are horrific. Nursing homes and hospitals around the country, who rely on Medicaid dollars, will close. Those that stay open will have more patients and fewer staff.
We will spend the next year and a half working tirelessly to ensure voters know exactly who is responsible for every closed hospital and nursing home.”
