Social Security Works Applauds President Biden for Firing Andrew Saul and David Black

(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, on President Biden firing Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul and Deputy Commissioner David Black:

“Today is a great day for every current and future Social Security beneficiary.

Andrew Saul and David Black were appointed by former President Donald Trump to undermine Social Security. They’ve done their very best to carry out that despicable mission. That includes waging a war on people with disabilities, demoralizing the agency’s workforce, and delaying President Biden’s stimulus checks.

We enthusiastically applaud President Biden’s decision to fire Saul and Black, as well as his choice of Kilolo Kijakazi for Acting Commissioner. Acting Commissioner Kijakazi has a long record of supporting our Social Security system and serving the American people. We look forward to working with her to protect and expand Social Security benefits.”
