Social Security Works Congratulates Newly-Confirmed SSA Commissioner Martin O’Malley
(Washington, DC) — Today, the Senate confirmed Martin O’Malley as the next Commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA) by an overwhelming majority of 50-11. The following is a statement on O’Malley’s confirmation from Nancy Altman, President of Social Security Works:
“Social Security Works congratulates Commissioner O’Malley, a longtime Social Security champion, on his confirmation to lead the Social Security Administration. This is a win for the country!
During his confirmation hearings, O’Malley pledged to listen to frontline workers and ensure that SSA provides Americans with the first-class customer service that they have earned. As commissioner, he will be in a prime position to urge Congress to fully fund SSA after over a decade of underfunding.
We look forward to working with Commissioner O’Malley to protect and expand Social Security.”
