Statement on the Nomination of Alex Azar

(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, in reaction to Donald Trump’s nomination of Alex Azar for Health and Human Services Secretary:

“Alex Azar is the jewel to complete Trump’s crown of corruption, a glittering diamond of dishonesty and self-dealing. He’s already made several trips through the revolving door between business and government, enriching himself in the process.

During Azar’s time at Eli Lilly, the price of insulin doubled in just five years, putting millions of Americans in danger. Putting Azar in charge of Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA would be putting a massive fire breathing dragon in charge of the hen house. The Senate must refuse to confirm him.”
