Statement on Social Security Expansion in Hillary Clinton’s DNCC Speech

(Washington, DC) —The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, in response to Hillary Clinton calling for expanding Social Security benefits in her convention speech:

“Last night Hillary Clinton accepted the nomination to be the Democratic candidate for the President of the United States of America, taking her place as the first woman to lead a major presidential ticket. Clinton also offered a stark policy contrast with the Republican ticket.

Before an audience of millions of Americans, Hillary Clinton reiterated that she will fight to expand Social Security and never cut it. Clinton and the platform she is running on offers an easy choice for Americans in November. Clinton and the Democrats are running to expand Social Security. Trump and the Republicans are running to cut Social Security and hand it over to Wall Street. This gives voters a clear choice. Clinton is standing with the 70% of Americans from all parties who want to expand Social Security. Trump is standing with his fellow millionaires and Wall Street cronies who want to dismantle Social Security and sell it off brick by brick.”
