The Lower Drug Costs Now Act is An Important Step In The Right Direction
(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, on the Lower Drug Costs Now Act (H.R. 3) released by House Democrats this morning:
“Americans across the political spectrum are united in our hatred for high drug prices. The only thing we hate more is the corrupt pharmaceutical monopolies that force those high prices on us.
Social Security Works applauds efforts to take on the greed of the pharmaceutical industry. The Lower Drug Costs Now Act is an important step in the right direction.
There should be no ceiling on the number of drugs that we can negotiate. 250 drugs should be the minimum number for negotiation, not the maximum. We also remain concerned about pharmaceutical industry gaming and high launch prices. We look forward to this bill being discussed under regular order in the coming weeks, and to working with House Democrats to strengthen it.”
