The American People Have Defeated Trumpcare Yet Again, But We Must Stay Vigilant

(Washington, DC) — The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, in reaction to the defeat of the Graham-Cassidy Trumpcare proposal.

“Yet again, Americans around the country rose up to defeat Trumpcare. This is a huge victory for millions, including the seniors and people with disabilities who would have been devastated by the bill’s destruction of Medicaid.

But we must stay vigilant. As long as Republicans are in control of Congress, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act will never be safe. We will continue the fight to protect these vital programs, while simultaneously fighting to expand Medicare to all Americans because health care is a human right.”
